The last time I wrote we’d just finished day 1 of the ride. We’ve now finished day 4 of the ride, and are in the middle of a “rest day” in Boothbay Harbor. When I started this I had fully intended to do a blog post for each day, but I’m realizing now that that just isn’t going to happen… There is just too much going on every day. We get up early, go all day and are TIRED at night. There is no time to sit and write long, detailed descriptions of everything. Besides, I’ve been told day one was a bit too long and too dry… :-) So… I’m going to catch up here by picking some highlights that give a flavor of what has been going on.

Let me start by saying that I am having a blast. Every day of the ride so far there has come a moment, usually 20 – 30 minutes into the morning ride, when I get almost choked up to realize how fortunate I am to be having this experience. The weather has been beautiful and perfect for riding, my fellow riders are friendly and interesting, the ride itself has been well organized, the people in the towns we’ve passed through have been welcoming, the food has been outstanding… Everything has exceeded my expectations.
