BikeMaine 2018 starts at the BikeMaine Village located at Riverside Bicentennial Park, 36 Riverside Drive, in Presque Isle. Presque Isle is located approximately 150 miles (2.5 hours) north of Bangor and 300 miles (5 hours) north of Portland.

By Car

To reach Presque Isle by car, follow Interstate 95, the primary highway in Maine, to Exit 302, then travel north on Route 1 for approximately 40 miles.  

For those needing to leave a vehicle for the week, BikeMaine has arranged with the Town of Presque Isle for on-site vehicle parking during the week for a $25 fee. This money offsets any costs associated with parking, with any excess being allocated to a local non-profit. Pay for parking here <insert link here>.

By Air

The two major airports that service Maine are the Portland International Jetport, located 300 miles from Presque Isle, and the Bangor International Airport, located 150 miles away.  

BikeMaine is offering shuttles from the Portland International Jetport and the Bangor International Airport to the start of BikeMaine in Presque Isle on September 8, with a return shuttle on September 15. Please see “Shuttles Between Portland or Bangor and Presque Isle,” below, for information about the shuttle service.

A smaller airport – Northern Maine Regional Airport – is located in Presque Isle, approximately 2.5 miles from the BikeMaine Village location. The airport is serviced by daily flights to and from Logan International Airport in Boston on PenAir.

By Bus

Bus transportation from Boston to Portland and/or Bangor is serviced by Concord Coach Lines. Once in Portland or Bangor, there is a BikeMaine shuttle to Presque Isle. Please see “Shuttles Between Portland or Bangor and Presque Isle,” below, for information about the shuttle.

By Train

Transportation on Amtrak can be booked from Boston through to Portland. Once in Portland, there is a BikeMaine shuttle to Presque Isle. Please see “Shuttles Between Portland or Bangor and Presque Isle,” below, for information about the shuttle.

Arriving in Portland on September 7th – Holiday Inn Express, South Portland

For travelers arriving in Portland on Friday, September 7th, BikeMaine has secured a block of rooms at a discounted rate of $134.00 at The Holiday Inn Express, South Portland. This discounted room rate is also available for travelers who will be flying out on Sunday, September 16th (staying overnight on Saturday, September 15). Please make your reservation directly with the hotel by calling them at 207-775-3900 and asking for the BikeMaine group block to obtain a discounted room. These rooms must be reserved by August 1 to guarantee the discounted rate.

Arriving in Bangor on September 7th – Quality Inn, Bangor

For travelers arriving in Bangor on Friday, September 7th, BikeMaine has arranged a block of rooms at a discounted rate of $85.00 at the Quality Inn Bangor Airport. This discounted room rate also is available for travelers who will be flying out on Sunday, September 16th (staying overnight on Saturday, September 15). Please make your reservation directly with the hotel by calling them at 207-942-8272 and asking for the BikeMaine group block to obtain a discounted room. These rooms must be reserved by August 1 to guarantee the discounted rate.

Shuttles Between Portland or Bangor and Presque Isle

BikeMaine is providing private bus service from Bangor, Maine to the ride start in Presque Isle. The bus will pick up passengers at 1:00pm in Bangor on Saturday, September 8th. OnSaturday, September 15th, the bus will pick up passengers in Presque Isle at 4:00pm with an expected arrival time in Bangor of 6:30pm. Please note these bus times when booking travel for BikeMaine. The round trip cost of the private bus service is $100 per rider and
Please note that riders must have their bikes in travel boxes in order to utilize the bus service. There are no racks available for transporting un-boxed bikes.
BikeMaine will not provide shuttle service from Portland to Presque Isle. Riders who make flight arrangements into Portland International Jetport have the option of taking a Concord Coach Lines bus to Bangor and changing over to the BikeMaine bus for continued service to Presque Isle, or renting a car and driving to Presque Isle. Similarly, BikeMaine will not provide shuttle service from Presque Isle to Portland on September 15.

Arriving in Presque Isle on September 7th

Travelers arriving in Presque Isle on Friday, September 7th, will need to make lodging arrangements somewhere in the area, as travelers will not be allowed into the BikeMaine Village until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8th. BikeMaine has arranged a block of rooms at a discounted rate of $135.00 at the Hampton Inn, Presque Isle. This discounted room rate is also available for travelers wishing to leave on Sunday, September 16th (staying overnight on Saturday, September 15). Please make your reservation directly with the hotel by calling them at 207-760-9292 and asking for the BikeMaine group block to obtain a discounted room. These rooms must be reserved by August 1 to guarantee the discounted rate.
